All Heralds built upto 1967 would originally have been fitted with the coil spring clutch. This was superceded by the diaphragm clutch from engine number GA204020E on the 1200 and GD44446E on the 12/50.
All 948s would originally have been fitted with the coil spring clutch, whereas all 13/60s had the diaphragm spring clutch.
Many cars which were originally equipped with the coil spring clutch have been converted to the stronger diaphragm spring clutch. It is not unheard of for the coil spring clutch to be retro-fitted to later cars, presumably a case of using what's available in the spares box. If you have any doubt about what's fitted to your car please ask us for advice.
