Shepton Mallet Autojumble, Automart and Restoration Show

Having traded at this event in 2004, 2005 and 2006, we verbally booked our regular stand, M4, measuring 5m x 2m. According to the prices shown on the booking form, the rate was £88.13 pro rata, which is the amount we paid in 2006.
The 2006 rate itself had been increased from previous years, as the show was expanded to a 2-day event. The form is reproduced below:

In August I was contacted by telephone to confirm my booking. During this conversation, the price quoted had risen to £110.70. When I queried this I was told that the show was receiving substantial publicity, however no explanation was offered for the increase made after the booking form had been received.

I suggested that the revised invoice whould be sent to me for my consideration, though by this time I was considerably unimpressed by the lack of professionalism shown by Nationwide Exhibitions. After a few days the revised invoice was received, the price had now risen to £137.48, a massive 56% higher than when we were initially contacted.

Nationwide Exhibitions are already unpopular with many traders and autojumblers. The kind of unprofessional behaviour we have seen from them in the past 12 months makes myself and other traders ever less likely to do business with them.

You won't be surprised to know that we have elected to cancel our booking for this year's event.
